If you are new to Houston or just visiting and have been wondering where a good Sushi restaraunt is I have a suggestion. I ate there last week and really enjoyed it. I ordered the buttered peas as an appetizer. They were delicious. Kind of like japanese nuts but much better. You pop the pod open and eat the peas and then throw the shells in a basket.

After the appetizer we ordered hot Sake that we shared around the table. There Sake selection was varied and we chose a delicious tasting one that went right along with my Sushi selection. I had the tiger eye which is salmon, avocado, sesame seeds, cream cheese, and a few other things. It was very good and I filled myself up on this one kind of Sushi. I think by just ordering this selection you will be pleasantly happy with your choice.

The service was fast and friendly at Zakes Sushi Lounge and I would go back in a second. I had my Coke refilled before I new it was empty which is very important for an overall enjoyable experience at a Houston restaraunt.

Houston Texas - A City To Live In!

Houston Tx is the fourth largest city in the nation (behind only New York, NY, Los Angeles, CA and Chicago, IL) and is the most populated city in the southern US. The Bayou City provides a warm, sunny climate throughout the year. Houston is also known for its diverse and rich culture full of arts, entertainment, and dining.

Houston and the surrounding MSA encompasses more than 7,500 square miles with a population of over 4 million.

It is true and during much of the nineteen eighties, Houston TX’s economy was primarily based upon the energy industry. Today however, the energy sector only accounts for about 40% of the MSA’s gross domestic product. The region has diversified with a broad spectrum of industries including: Oil and gas exploration, basic petroleum refining, petrochemical production, Medical research, health care delivery and high-technology (computer, aerospace, environmental, etc.)

In addition, the Bayou City has recently been awarded some additional honors:

  • Most Affordable Housing among 24 MSAs with population greater than 2M (source ACCRA Cost of Living Index 2006)
  • Job Growth (source US Bureau of Labor Statistics – March 2007)
  • Lowest Cost of Living among 24 MSAs with population greater than 2M (source ACCRA Cost of Living Index 2006)

Relocating to Houston

If you’re looking to relocate to the Bayou City, I think that you’re making an excellent decision. Houston is currently leading the nation in job growth and the region benefits from high energy prices, a strong medical community, innovative technology leaders (including the NASA headquarters!) and is ranked as the city with the least expensive housing costs among 29 MSA in the US with more than one million people. Houston is truly a great place to live.

Mercury Room Club in Houston Texas

Houston’s Mercury Room Bar

Mercury Room

The Mercury Room is talked about in underground social sites and chat channels across the internet. For people who plug into the Houston Social scene on a nightly basis they know this is one of the best places to meet fun and exciting people in Houston. The Club is trusted by many to have the fun you will need after a hard days work and enough people there to enjoy yourself with.

This club has the two top bars in Houston under one roof and valet parking for the big spender. For people who have a stake in being scene in the top social circles in Houston then this is a place to frequent. The Mercury Room knows how to make a Friday night fun and full of good music. They do it right here and you won’t find many who disagree.

You can choose between the downstairs Mercury Room or the Boca Bar which has a live DJ offering great music. The balcony of the Boca Bar is full of people danding and having fun and the Mercury Room has its own wonderful flair downstairs. Many people to bump into and get to know as you make your way through this fun filled atmosphere. The cover charges are kind of high but it’s worth paying to be in these clubs. I think you will find the live Motown music hard to resist as they do it right with very well seasoned musicians from Houston.

Downstairs is usually completely taken up by young hipsters. You can meet people or dance but there will not be a whole lot of room to get too comfortable. Expect to meet people or step on a foot or two. This place is popular for good reason.

Several magazines have been here and also agree that this bar has a lot to offer.

Below Is A Good List Of Clubs To Go To In Houston

But First Please Read This As It May Help You Get Started Meeting People

Houston has several clubs to go and hang out at. Many of these places are easy going and you can come in sit down and observe until you feel comfortable to get up and start meeting people. If I could recommend the best thing to do for someone in the city that is not used to getting out and meeting people, just go into one of these clubs and have a goal to say hi to atleast one person that night. You can know for that night that although you may not have accomplished anything else atleast you said hi. You can take it a step further each night after that until you are going up and introducing yourself and talking to new people.

Two People in Houston Texas Left Stranded

The Police Stranded Two Black Houston Men

Today in Woodworth Louisiana two seperate police traffic stops pulled over black men wearing black Jena support shirts. These men who were just showing their support while going to Jena on a mecca or crusade if you will to support ending racism were stopped for speeding. Neither man was speeding and they were ticketed for going 70 when the speed they were at was 50 mph. The licenses were told to be suspended when this was not the case. The suspension was lifted over 1 1/2 years ago and it was only for a short period of time. The men had the exact same thing happen to them and ended up crossing paths at the same gas station the tow truck brought them to due to their cars being impounded.

If You Travel Through Woodworth, Louisiana Please Don’t Buy Anything

Boycott The Town So The Town Can Wake Up

Being ticketed while not speeding and then having your car impounded for such a violation is a harsh punishment for a routine traffic violation you didn’t even commit. They were left far from Houston stranded at a gas station both having very similar stories. It appears certain police officers were profiling those heading to Jena to show their support and giving them punishment that far exceeded a crime they did not even commit.

Other Houston News

This town is notorious for making much of their revenue by ticketing people for going 2 and 3 miles over the speed limit. The police are also known to tail people late at night causing them to speed up at which point they get pulled over for going a few miles over when trying to gain distance from the police car and their car.

The police in this town have even been investigated by the state. A Lousiana state investigator drove through going slightly over the speed limit and he was immediately pulled over by one of these problem police. After the investigation there was a stop for a short time but the police are back up to some of their same bad cop tactics. This town is worth driving around as the cops and government are somewhat corrupt and have know shame in how they treat visitors passing through.

Houston Texas boasts more then the building skyline and roadways. Sure our city is large and populated but that doesn’t mean we don’t have gorgeous nature trails, serine lakes and ponds, and enough outdoor activities to make you think twice about where to go for a fun vacation.
